The purpose of the Research Mentoring Certificate is to increase the capacity of the University of Utah to provide high-quality research mentoring. Participation in the program is available to University of Utah graduate students, post-docs, staff, and faculty.

The purpose of the Research Mentoring Certificate is to increase the capacity of the University of Utah to provide high-quality research mentoring. Participation in the program is available to University of Utah graduate students, post-docs, staff, and faculty. The certificate involves six classes presented in Canvas course format, accompanied by five live meetings.

The Cohort path to the Research Mentoring Certificate allows participants to earn the Certificate over the course of 6 weeks, with one self-paced asynchronous class and five in-person synchronous classes.

This is a REd Online (ASYNCHRONOUS) class. Research mentors play crucial roles in the development of emerging scholars. Elements of Effective Mentoring/Developing a Mentoring Philosophy is the first class in the Research Mentoring Certificate and provides a foundation for the remainder of the certificate classes.

This is an in person session of RED 710 held March 5, 2025 at 9:00 am. This will be the hour prior to the Enhancing Research Mentoring Symposium.

The “Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research (RECR) Certificate – Undergraduate & Graduate Students” is designed for students in all research settings and that the completion of this certificate ensures that all students are trained in the eight (8) subject matter areas that NIH and NSF include in their training requirements.

The Responsible and Ethical Conduct of Research (RECR) Certificate – Faculty/Scholars/Staff is designed for research or principal investigators, scholars, research coordinators, and study staff in all research settings.
