A specialized seminar conducted by senior faculty and administrators at the University offered to all new and experienced researchers. Participants will be presented an overview of the organizational structure of research administration at the University including the management of sponsored projects, research integrity, conflict of interest and technology venture development. Several resources for conducting effective funding searches and obtaining the most current agency information will be discussed. Specific University policies will be explained related to proposal preparation, processing and review for the different types of funding.

At the conclusion of this class, you will be able to:
  • Describe regulations regarding research misconduct
  • Identify what conflict of interest is and how to properly manage it
  • Explain what Intellectual Property is and how the Technology Commercialization Office (TCO) assists in developing commercialization opportunities for it
  • Define what a sponsored project is and summarize the assistance that the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) provides to researchers
