Description: This Clinical Research Staff Foundations (CRSF) certuificate is a new centralized training program housed in the Utah Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) and available to entry-level clinical research staff across campus. This program is intended to provide a basic education in core clinical research concepts, how those concepts relate to clinical research on campus, and how they relate to the research coordinator role. CRSF will be taught via multiple modalities, including: synchronous classroom lectures taught by an experienced clinical research manager, subject-matter expert guest lecturers, group work, and simulated research scenarios.
The curriculum was developed with input from multiple research managers and research education experts across campus. Topics include: orientation to human subjects research, research ethics, lifecycle of a research project, overview of research types, structure of a research team, compliance, specimen handling, SOPs, informed consent, epic training, data entry & quality, protocol comprehension, IRB, community research, genetics/genomics intro, and career path exploration.
