This is the REd Online version (ASYNCHRONOUS) of Budget Preparation and Development.

Class Description: This class will explain key budgeting concepts which will help you in developing your project proposal. You need to construct a comprehensive and accurate budget so that your proposal will be awarded and to guide you as you do the project. We will also discuss federal and University requirements regarding the application of costs.

Class Description: At the conclusion of this class, you should be able to:
  • Differentiate between allowable and unallowable expenses for grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements
  • List federal and University requirements for appropriately applying, transferring, and modifying costs
  • Explain the principles of cost sharing, subcontracting, and matching funds
  • Construct an effective proposal budget including:
    • All categories of direct costs
    • Facilities and administrative (F&A) costs
  • Identify sources of additional information for accurately projecting costs
