This is a REd Asynchronous (self-paced) class. 

Class Description: This class is designed to facilitate the transitions that all postdocs and beginning investigators make as they move forward in their careers. We'll discuss how to search for and obtain faculty positions, how universities are organized and how you can plan for tenure, how to lead your own lab, how to staff your lab, and how to manage your precious time.

Class Objectives: At the conclusion of this class, you should be able to:

  • Identify the most effective resources for your job search
  • Recognize the processes and expectations for achieving tenure
  • Distinguish between a leader and a manager
  • Demonstrate expertise in finding and hiring staff for your lab
