At the conclusion of this class, you should be able to:

  • Identify key historical events concerning research with children and explain how they have influenced our current research ethics
  • Summarize the federal regulations for human subjects research as they pertain to pediatrics
  • Describe the informed consent and assent processes for research involving children
  • Explain how understanding the regulations will help you in submitting your proposals to the IRB
