Class Description: Participants will develop an in-depth understanding of the regulatory criteria for IRB approval of research. Join a discussion on the ethical basis for each criterion and the complicating factors that influence how the IRB weighs each of the core ethical principles: Respect for Persons, Beneficence, and Justice. 

Class Objectives: At the conclusion of this class, you should be able to:

• Review and articulate the IRB’s mission and foundational principles
• Discuss how to apply the Criteria for IRB Approval of Research

Class Duration: Total duration for synchronous classes are approximately 2 hours. Those two (2) hours will be broken down into:

• A live session which will take approximately 1 hour (45-minute presentation and 15-minute Q&A) and;
• Pre and Post-work activities which will take approximately 1 hour, in total.
