This is a REd Asynchronous (online/self-paced) Class.

Class Description: Participants will learn how to navigate and properly answer questions for Institutional Review Board (IRB) Electronic Research Integrity and Compliance Administration (ERICA) applications to ensure a complete and orderly IRB submission. Types of applications to be explained include the new study application, the amendment application, and the continuing review application including final project reports. Participants will become familiar with the IRB application process, when it is required to submit each type of application, and how to avoid common mistakes made when completing these applications.

Class Objectives: At the conclusion of this class, you should be able to:

 

  • Know the basics of the HRPP organization at the University of Utah, and which committees use the system to conduct their reviews. 
  • Know what the ERICA system is, the basics of how to use the system, how to submit an IRB application, and which user roles can view/edit/submit in ERICA.
  • Name the different types of IRB applications and know the purpose of each application.
  • Learn tips, tricks, and where to find help to avoid the most common mistakes made in the IRB application.
