Full course description

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in the research context has become recognized as a crucial component of ethical research activities. In this series of discussions provided by Multi-Regional Clinical Trials Center (MRCT), participants will develop an in-depth understanding about how the ethics and principles of health literacy link to EDI and are applied to the research life cycle. This series of classes provides specific examples of health literacy best practices applied to different types of studies, information on integrating participant feedback into study material development, and how to share research results with study participants and the larger community.

Friday, February 26, 2021 @11:30am - 1:00pm (MST): Health Literacy 101 – The focus of this session will include the ethics and principles of health literacy as applied to the clinical research life cycle, including an introduction to co-developing materials with participants.

Friday, March 19, 2021 @1:00pm - 2:30pm (MST): Health Literacy in Action – The focus of this session will be to expand on the understanding of health literacy to give specific examples of health literacy best practices applied to different types of studies, and will include information on integrating participant feedback into the development of research studies and materials.

Friday, April 16, 2021 @1:00pm - 2:30pm (MST): Health Literacy Applied – This session will focus specifically on managing and sharing research results with study participants and the community.

These events do not count towards the Certificate of Achievement for REd.
